Celebrating 150 years of the Trust

This year is a special year for the Trust as we celebrate our 150th year.   A lot has changed since the very first meeting of the Greytown trustees was held back in April 1872 but one thing that remains the same is the Trust’s purpose and reason for being – to provide assistance for the advancement of education, educational facilities, and the advancement/improvement of the “public wellbeing” of the Greytown District community.

Fifty years ago – on Saturday 29 July 1972 – a dinner was held at the Forresters’ Arms Hotel to celebrate the Trust’s centennial year.  This was a relatively small affair, but a very happy occasion attended by his Workshop the Mayor Mr F C Yule and Mrs Kath Yule; Trust Chair Mr J A Hannan and Joan Hannan; Trustees at the time, G Brunton, R M Batty, M H Bouzaid, T H Warburton and V Cooke and their partners.  Past Trustees’, the Trust’s solicitor and Secretary were also present.

Planning is underway for a special evening to be held in November where current and past Trustees and invited members of the community will be able to come together and celebrate the achievements of the Trust.
