Education Bulk Funding

Following on from last month’s update in the Grapevine, Trustees at their 24 November Board meeting considered applications for funding initiatives from the four local education providers.   The Trust awarded the total amount available which was $74,451.

Kuranui College received $30,657 for their future focused learning initiative.  This funding will go towards purchasing an additional 170 chromebooks for the Year 9 and 10 students.

Greytown Primary School also identified a need to further focus on their eLearning and digital curriculum and received a grant of $29,562 to assist with the purchase of more chromebooks for students.

Greytown Early Years will again use their funding to help cover its professional learning and development and the children’s explorers programme. They received a total of $11,700 to fully cover both initiatives.

The $2,532 awarded to Greytown Kindergarten will be used to help fund the natural space area.

This takes the total amount granted to the four local education providers over the last 12 years to $865,323.59.

Check out our website to see how last year’s funding was spent and what a difference this has made.

From the History files

The first female elected onto the Board of Trustees was Mrs June Prince in 1977.    Mrs Prince remained on the board until 1998 when she did not stand for re-election.  Since that date, the Trust has always had at least one woman elected onto the Trust, apart from between 2013 and 2016, where all six were men.
